1) What is IHearU app?
IHearU is the first and only mental health app that provides mental wellness services through the defined term, ‘Listeners’. We believe that the primary feeling of being heard by someone who listens (with empathy, without judgement / advice-giving) has immeasurable therapeutic impact to one’s mental health. Research can back this up too!
We operate via a Listener Marketplace where Callers,
(1) can select from a range of Listener / Listener+,
(2) make an informed decision with community-generated ratings and reviews and (3) schedule session(s) to be heard.
2) What are the qualifications to be a Listener?
Listeners should have a background in social work or counselling or psychological first aid and would be vetted via a call with our Moderators.
(The basic qualification is a Psychological First Aid Certification, which can be obtain at
Red Cross Singapore)
Listener+ are required to be mental health professionals such as counsellors and psychologists (certified by their relevant Masters, PhD degrees and licences).
3) How do I become a listener on IHearU?
We are humbled to have you. If you meet the qualifications above, to become a listener, visit the IHearU app and click “Request to be a Listener”. After submission, you’ll need to provide information about your background, qualifications, and may need to undergo a vetting process.
4) Is there a training process?
Not for the time being.
However, we plan to offer listening workshops for our listeners in the future.
In the meantime, we provide a Listener Success Guide with valuable tips and best practices. This guide is available in the app and will be emailed to you once your application is successful.
5) How do I manage my availability?
You can manage your availability through the app by updating your schedule in the “Schedule” section. Set your preferred working hours and update them as needed.
6) How do I connect with callers?
Callers can see your profile and request a session based on your availability . On the scheduled date and time, click “Join Session” in “Appointments” to connect with your Caller/Client.
You will receive a notification once the Caller/Client confirms their booking.. All sessions are automatically accepted as it is based on the availability that you have input.
7) Can I initiate contact with a caller?
No, only callers can initiate sessions. Your role is to be available and ready to support when a caller books a session.
8) How long are the sessions?
Sessions typically range from 30 to 50 minutes. Do note that the app will end at 60 minutes automatically, so do prep for your closing with your clients/callers.
